Real Madrid star Dean Huijsen has moved to shoot down suggestions that he and Barcelona counterpart Pau Cubarsí may not be compatible on the international stage.

Both Huijsen and Cubarsí were afforded places in the latest Spanish national team squad called upon by Luis de la Fuente.

As much comes amid long-standing reports that the two youngsters are considered the future of La Roja’s backline.

Some, however, have called into question the fit of the pair.

With Huijsen and Cubarsí known for their elegance and ability on the ball, many a Spanish supporter have highlighted what they feel is the need for a more forceful, physical presence.

Speaking during an interview with Marca (as cited by Diario Sport) this week, the subject of as much was therefore put to Huijsen himself.

And the Real Madrid talent made use of the opportunity to assure that would be more than comfortable playing alongside Cubarsí:

“Why not? He is a great centre-back. I’m comfortable by his side, like with Le Normand or Vivian.”
