In a major blow for Real Madrid, key midfielder Jude Bellingham has been taken off with what appears to be a hamstring injury during the game against Rayo Vallecano.

The England international was named in the starting XI for the game at the Santiago Bernabeu, but with less than ten minutes on the clock, disaster struck for the midfield star.

At the 8th minute mark, Bellingham sprinted to reach the ball near the byline and suddenly felt a very sharp pull in his left hamstring. It was so bad that he immediately went to ground and asked to be substituted.

Pending medical tests, the sensations are very bad. While the midfielder left the pitch on his own feet, he was limping and in tears as he walked off, setting off alarm bells at Real Madrid.

Brahim Diaz came on to replace the injured Bellingham. A clearer picture of the nature and severity of the injury should emerge once medical tests are conducted, but the early signs are concerning.

In fact, AS reports that there is a possibility that it could be a muscle tear, which would likely sideline him for as long as three weeks at the very least.

Bellingham already missed a good chunk of matches at the start of the season after having undergone surgery to address his shoulder problem. It now remains to be seen how long this latest injury keeps him out of action.
