Vinicius Jr. is currently the hot topic at Real Madrid right now, especially after last night’s win over Marseille.

Although Los Blancos were able to secure a 2-1 win over the French club, Vinicius’ exclusion from the starting eleven was the main headline.

The Brazilian did come on as a substitute in the second half, notably playing a key role in winning the penalty that sealed the game for Los Blancos.

Vinicius’ cryptic story on Instagram

In the wake of Real Madrid’s victory over Marseille, Vinicius has now posted a cryptic story on Instagram.

He posted a photo of himself in a black and white filter. The photo doesn’t say much at first glance, but what strikes out is the song playing in the background, reports AS.

The song, “Princípios de um Campeão” (Principles of a Champion) by Brazilian artist Chefin, features lyrics that seem to directly address Vinicius’s current situation.

The most notable verse says, “Tested and purified, without any ego, and I stayed on the podium. The awards I won, that sh*t didn’t make me the best. There’s always more talent, but since I was little, I’ve been the hardest worker.”

This message appears to be a subtle response to his reduced role under new manager Xabi Alonso.

The lyrics continue, “I fell and now I get up. My opponents don’t intimidate me. Focus and determination are the principles of a champion.”

After being an undisputed starter in previous seasons, Vinicius has been benched twice in five competitive matches this season.

Recent reports suggest this is no longer an experimental change by Alonso, who really wants the Brazilian international to fight for his place in the first-team and not expect guaranteed starts week in week out.
