Real Madrid will have their task cut out next week when they face Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena, for the second leg of the UEFA Champions League, having lost 2-1 in the first leg.
In a game where Real Madrid missed multiple scoring opportunities and ended up losing at the Santiago Bernabeu, which is not a good omen, the performance of Kylian Mbappe was perhaps the biggest positive.
According to AS, the French star has finally started reclaiming his most terrifying version at the perfect moment.
After the uncertainty surrounding his recent knee injury and a stint on the sidelines, Mbappe drew on his leadership and personality to rise to the occasion in what was a clear sporting emergency.

He was the most consistent threat to the German goal, scoring once and coming agonisingly close to a second, only to be thwarted by an outstanding performance from the veteran Manuel Neuer.
Within the Real Madrid camp, they feel this is the version of Mbappe they want to see every day as the Frenchman not only impressed with his attacking flair but also showed a good defensive work-rate
This comes at a time when the former PSG superstar was subjected to massive criticism following his lack of defensive work in the recent defeat to Mallorca.
With Mbappé performing as the sharpened, confident leader the fans have demanded since his arrival, Real Madrid can realistically dream of overturning the tie in Germany.
Although Real Madrid have historically not been able to overturn a first leg defeat at home, they may have a serious chance if Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. can work together in the return leg.
