Real Madrid are gearing up for their most important game of the season as they take on Deportivo Alaves later in the day.
It is a must-win game for Xabi Alonso, who is walking a tightrope after a set of poor results that have put pressure on his long-term future at the club.
Reports suggest Alonso could be sacked if Real Madrid fail to win against Alaves, with the club reportedly readying Alvaro Arbeloa as a potential replacement.
In the wake of this turmoil, the Real Madrid team is now united more than ever as they gear up for the Alaves clash, reports El Debate.
The team understands that their poor performance is part of the reason why Real Madrid have not been able to bring out strong results.

This, in turn, has put pressure on Xabi Alonso, whose sacking may have significant ramifications for the team as well.
The players, after all, know that Real Madrid will take strict action against players once Alonso is sacked. The Spaniard used to serve as a safety net for the players, but if he leaves, almost all players will be vulnerable.
Therefore, the players are determined to reverse the trend Real Madrid have shown in recent weeks and secure at least four back-to-back wins to help Alonso retain his job.
Alonso, for his part, has not received a great deal of support from the players. But he is doing everything he can, buoyed by the recent wave of support from the team.
Things won’t be easy for Xabi Alonso. But he refuses to lose hope just yet, and perhaps more importantly, the players, too, are not giving up.
