Real Madrid’s plan for Endrick is becoming clearer, and the club appear determined to ensure that any move benefits the youngster’s development rather than leaving him on the fringes once again.
In fact, according to a detailed report from journalist Mario Cortegana via The Athletic, the forward’s loan deal being discussed with Lyon is far more strategic than a simple mid-season switch.
The Spanish giants want guarantees, and they have put a specific mechanism in place to protect the forward’s playing time.
Cortegana reports that the two clubs are in advanced negotiations over a January loan, with Real Madrid prepared to cover part of the striker’s remaining wages for this season.
But the most striking element of the discussion is a safeguard clause that would require Lyon to compensate Real Madrid financially if Endrick does not start a predetermined number of matches.
A source close to the negotiations has confirmed the intention behind this clause, explaining that Lyon will be obliged to pay Real Madrid a fee “if the player doesn’t start a specific number of matches.”

It is a rare but increasingly popular strategy among top European clubs seeking to protect the progress of their emerging stars.
The outlet mentions that Real Madrid had initially chosen to wait before making any decision regarding Endrick’s future, hoping his situation under Xabi Alonso might shift before December.
However, with the 19-year-old featuring for just 11 minutes all season, the club is disappointed with the lack of opportunities he has been given.
Alonso’s team selections have made it clear that the Brazilian is not currently part of his rotation, prompting Madrid to push ahead with the Lyon option.
Notably, though the agreement is close, nothing has been formally signed.
Even so, the expectation is that the deal will be finalised in December, allowing Endrick the chance to play regular football in Ligue 1.
