Real Madrid are preparing an offer for Borussia Dortmund centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck, according to Bild.

Schlotterbeck signed a contract extension in the spring to 2031 that includes a €50-60 million release clause, which is said to apply to Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Liverpool.

The clause is understood to be active until the end of the World Cup, with the final scheduled for July 19.

The player is said to have repeatedly told those close to him that he is attracted to a move to the Spanish capital club.

The 26-year-old joined Dortmund from Freiburg in 2022 and is expected to be a starter for Germany at the World Cup.
