According to journalist Rodra in his report for ESPN, Real Madrid are “very serious” about signing 16-year-old Mexican talent Gilberto Mora, who has become one of the brightest sensations of the recent U-20 World Cup.

The young midfielder has caught the attention of the club’s scouting department, and his profile is being closely monitored at Valdebebas.

The report states that Real Madrid see Mora as a player with very good potential. However, sources close to the club acknowledge that “at 16 years old, he may still need some growth” before determining if he can truly succeed at the highest level.

While Real Madrid have made a habit of identifying young talents early, the club’s technical staff remain cautious.

As one insider noted, “it’s still too early to know whether he will become a top player fit to wear the Real Madrid shirt or if he’ll just be a great player.”

Following the Vinicius and Endrick model

Those within the club believe that Mora is the standout name of the 2008 generation. The youngster will turn 17 on October 14th, meaning he cannot move to Europe at least until October 2026.

Still, this limitation has not deterred Real Madrid in the past, having previously signed Vinicius Jr. and Endrick as minors before moving to Santiago Bernabeu.

According to reports, two key factors make Mora an especially appealing prospect for Los Blancos.

Firstly, his position on the pitch aligns with areas Real Madrid want to strengthen in the future. Secondly, the club views the Mexican market as a vital part of its global expansion strategy.

Signing a promising player like him would not only boost Real Madrid’s presence in Mexico but also help deepen their connection with one of their largest international fanbases.

For now, the interest remains in the scouting and evaluation phase, but Mora’s name continues to circulate in Madrid’s corridors.
