With the season set to enter the final stage of the season, Real Madrid have some major decisions to with regard to the future of some of their out-of-contract players.
David Alaba, for one, appears primed to be on his way out, having fallen out of favour this season, while fitness issues also continue to plague him.
As for Dani Carvajal, he is staring at a delicate situation, especially given his fitness problems this term, and the emergence of Trent Alexander-Arnold as the first-choice right-back in recent games.
Antonio Rudiger, too, finds himself in a similar situation to Alaba and Carvajal, in the sense that his contract expires on 30 June.
However, according to AS, the German international has a good chance of staying at Real Madrid beyond the duration of his current deal.

Even though he has been bogged down by fitness issues, Rudiger has been solid since his return, delivering very impressive performances.
Moreover, he is a well-respected figure in the locker room and his leadership qualities make him a very valuable part of the team.
As such, it is not entirely ruled out that Rudiger could continue at Real Madrid beyond the current campaign.
It must be noted that there has been no contact between the 32-year-old defender’s camp and the Merengues about an extension. However, a discussion is expected to take place later in the season and a lot will depend on how he fares in the remainder of the campaign.
