Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal could be at the centre of a major transfer battle this summer, with several top Serie A clubs closely monitoring his situation.

According to a report from Fichajes, as many as three Italian giants are interested in securing the experienced right-back.

Carvajal’s position at Real Madrid has changed in recent months following his return from injury.

While the veteran defender is eager to enjoy football again and regain his importance in the squad, manager Alvaro Arbeloa’s recent decisions have pushed him into a secondary role.

As such, the emergence of academy right-back David Jimenez has played a big part in that shift.

Interest from Serie A

As a result, interest from abroad is starting to grow, with AC Milan are one of the clubs most strongly linked with a move for the Spanish international.

The possibility of playing in Italy is said to appeal to Carvajal, especially as it would offer him a fresh challenge and regular minutes.

However, the financial package from Milan is significantly lower than the offers he has reportedly received from Saudi Arabia.

Furthermore, Inter Milan are also keeping a close eye on the situation, as the Nerazzurri are expected to lose Denzel Dumfries, and they see Carvajal as an ideal replacement.

Lastly, Juventus are the third club in the race. They are said to be interested in Carvajal because of his tactical intelligence and experience.

They feel he could fit well into their system, either as a traditional right-back or even as a wide centre-back in a three-man defence.

Despite the strong interest, Carvajal’s decision will not be purely financial or sporting.

This is because the report suggests that the defender has reservations about joining clubs that could potentially face Real Madrid in European competitions.

His emotional connection to the club remains very strong, and that loyalty could play a decisive role when he evaluates his options.
