Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has refused to be drawn on comments made by Lamine Yamal ahead of Sunday’s El Clasico.

The Barcelona wonderkid appears to have caused quite a storm in the Real Madrid dressing room by claiming the current LaLiga leaders "rob and complain."

As reported by ESPN, Yamal appeared on the YouTube channel for the Kings League - a competition run by former Barcelona and Spain defender Gerard Pique.

When asked if Porcinos, the rivals of La Capital - who Pique has just become president of - this weekend, are the same as Real Madrid, Yamal said: "Yes, they rob [a reference to refereeing decisions]; they complain; they do things.”

According to Marca, Yamal comments haven't gone down well in the Real dressing room and captain Dani Carvajal is said to be planning on ‘confronting’ his Spain international ahead of the big game.

However, Alonso did not want to give the comments too much attention when addressing the media in the pre-match press conference on Saturday.

"I'm not going to go into that. There are many statements from the Barcelona fans, and we can't evaluate them all,” he said. “The important thing is the green, what happens on the pitch, where we're coming from, what lies ahead, and how we play the game.

“That's what worries us the most and what we've been working on."

Alonso takes charge of his first-ever El Clasico on Sunday and will be tasked of ensuring Los Blancos do not suffer a fifth straight loss at the hands of their bitter rivals.

“The times are different, our project is different, and it's just getting started, the Spaniard added. “We want to leverage our strengths and be able to play a good game.

“A Clasico is special, it has been for many years. It's the first of the season and of this new project. We need the stadium to have the energy of big matches and special moments.

“We need it to push us forward and vibrate so we can celebrate with our fans.”
