Real Madrid are set to reap the rewards of their decision to sell former academy stars such as Nico Paz and Chema Andres but retaining control over their future through the buyback clauses.
While Paz has taken his performances to the next level in Serie A this season and is expected to be re-signed by Los Blancos in 2026, Chema, too, has enjoyed a stellar start to his Bundesliga career at VfB Stuttgart.
The young midfielder has become an ever-present figure in the Stuttgart lineup and could emerge as one of the rookies of the season.
According to Fichajes, Real Madrid are closely monitoring Chema’s progress in Germany. The midfielder, who joined Stuttgart for just €3 million, has indeed left the Real Madrid bosses impressed.
His intelligence off the ball, calmness in possession, and ability to anticipate plays have drawn comparisons to Manchester City’s Rodri.

Los Blancos included a buyback clause in his contract when he left for the Bundesliga, one that can be activated in the summer of 2026 for a fee just €13.5 million, which will rise to €16 million in the following year.
The club see him as a potential long-term alternative to Aurelien Tchouameni in midfield, though there are no immediate plans to bring him back.
At Valdebebas, Chema is seen as a player who could return when fully ready for first-team responsibilities.
For now, Real Madrid’s strategy is to let him mature in Germany, away from the pressure of the Bernabeu.
If his development continues to follow the same trajectory, a return to the club could be on the horizon for the young midfielder, who has been likened to Manchester City mainstay Rodri.
