TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Trade
Real Salt Lake have signed forward Jason Shokalook from Chicago Fire FC through December 2026 with options through 2028, the clubs announced Wednesday.
To complete the deal, Chicago receive $150,000 in guaranteed General Allocation Money (GAM) divided between 2026 ($50k) and 2027 ($100k), plus $50k in conditional GAM. Chicago also retain a sell-on percentage.
"Jason’s talent was clear during his time in Chicago," said RSL chief soccer officer Kurt Schmid. "RSL gives him the opportunity to highlight his natural finishing ability while taking the next step in his overall development."
The 23-year-old American has notched 2g/2a in 12 appearances with the Fire, whom he signed for last December after starring for their MLS NEXT Pro team.
Last year, Shokalook won the MLS NEXT Pro Golden Boot award with 20g/4a in 22 matches. He also made the year-end Best XI and was an MVP finalist.
“As a younger guy, coming to a club with a reputation for giving young players the opportunity to play, that’s exciting to me to come here, work hard and be ready,“ said Shokalook.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with Pablo [Mastroeni]; his track record of making the playoffs every year, him being a former player, his understanding of what we face every day - that brings a certain level of excitement to me and to the whole locker room. Everyone around here senses it, from what I've heard around here since my first day yesterday.”
RSL are 10th in the Western Conference on 28 points, one point behind Minnesota United FC for the final Wild Card position. Chicago, meanwhile, sit third in the Eastern Conference with 37 points.
