Real Sociedad have marked the new year and a fresh start by sharing a Three Kings letter, asking for their family to smile again as they begin under head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo.

Matarazzo, known as Rino, takes charge for the first time on Sunday against Atlético Madrid in LaLiga EA Sports matchday 18 at Anoeta, kick-off 21:00. The club said in a post that it wants its family to celebrate goals again.

The message reflected that the campaign could have started much better and acknowledged that the family have been a little worried. It asked for 2026 to bring smiles, leaps of joy and celebrations with their backs turned, and for supporters to enjoy the new story beginning with this game.

It welcomed a new family member, noting that Rino arrives full of enthusiasm and generosity, and even left pancakes and bagels for the Kings to fuel their journey.

The note signed off in Basque with “Muxu haundi haundi bat”, translated as a very big kiss.
