Real Sociedad are working on a deal to bring Fabio Silva in on loan from Borussia Dortmund to strengthen their forward line, according to AS. Talks are aimed at finalising a move long targeted in Anoeta.

The club's interest in the Portuguese striker predates this summer. They tried to sign him last year while he was at Wolverhampton, with Atlético de Madrid and Villarreal also in the frame.

That attempt collapsed when the Bundesliga side intervened, paying 27 million euros for his transfer, a fee beyond Real Sociedad’s budget. The San Sebastián club instead added Caleta-Car, Guedes, Carlos Soler and Yangel Herrera, then in winter Wesley Gassova.

One year on, Fabio Silva’s lack of continuity in Germany has reopened the possibility. The player is seeking minutes, and Real would like him involved at Zubieta, despite renewed attention from Villarreal and Deportivo.

The recruitment team are now trying to tie up the unfinished business from last season. Discussions with Dortmund are progressing towards a loan that fits the plan the club set out a year ago.
