Real Sociedad player ratings against Aston Villa, charting key contributions. According to Diario Vasco, Remiro, Yangel Herrera, Marchal and Óskarsson stood out.
Remiro produced two fine stops, from Maatsen at point-blank range and Burrowes, and was blameless for both goals conceded.
Aramburu improved after a slow start and combined with Barrenetxea. Jon Martín contained Madjo barring a finish from a loose ball, Zubeldia was sharp to seconds, and Sergio Gómez struggled with Burrowes and from set pieces.
Turrientes was quieter than Yangel, linked play, lost one risky ball, was booked and shot from range on 38 minutes. Yangel controlled for about an hour, beat two and set up Marchal for 1-1, also releasing Barrenetxea, while Soler scored after Bizot’s save and tried another central effort.
Marchal showed intent, defended diligently and almost scored with a long arc from distance. Barrenetxea was fooled by Maatsen on the 1-0, then found Óskarsson on 41 minutes and delivered the free-kick the Icelander converted for 1-2, his third in three after earlier misses.
Beitia got 45 minutes, risked a headed back-pass and his renewal could yet be telling, with Matarazzo keen to assess him, while Zakharyan led counters but drew two simple saves. Rupérez timed his runs well and scored again, Kita’s diagonal preceded 2-3, Aihen defended tidily and Lebarbier steadied play as Aguirre overhit a cross.
Dani Díaz threaded a superb pass for Carrera and later surged down the right. Ochieng’s cross brought the 2-4 for Rupérez, and Carrera marked his first Real goal with a sharp run and near-post finish.
