Francisco only took charge at Anoeta in late April as Imanol Alguacil's replacement, having previously spent over a decade in the club's academy coaching ranks.

But after a defeat to Girona left them just one point above LaLiga's relegation zone, the 46-year-old and his assistant Iosu Rivas has both been relieved of his duties.

"The club wishes to acknowledge the professionalism, effort, and commitment shown by Sergio Francisco, both during his time managing the first team and throughout his years with the club," read an official statement.

"During his more than eleven years as a coach in our youth academy, he was a key figure in the final stage of our young players' development.

"In addition to the promotions achieved with both the C team and Sanse (Real Sociedad B), many of the players who are and will be part of the first team have been under his tutelage.

"Real Sociedad wishes him all the best for his personal and professional future."

Former Sociedad stalwart Jon Ansotegi will step up from his role with the 'B' team to temporarily oversee the club's two matches before the Christmas break.

La Real face back-to-back away trips, taking on Eldense in the Copa del Rey before travelling to Levante.
