Real Sociedad scan market with historic 20 million ceiling | OneFootball

Real Sociedad are working the market as they chase a first signing. AS reports that Wolverhampton centre-back Ladislav Krejcí is among the options, although the clubs are far apart on price.

Wolverhampton paid 30 million euros to Girona last season for the Czech international. Relegated to the Championship, they need sales but are not expected to accept cut-price exits.

Real Sociedad’s record fee is 20 million euros, spent on Umar Sadiq and Orri Óskarsson. Sadiq’s move did not work, and after a loan and difficulty placing him he joined Valencia for 5 million euros.

Óskarsson arrived at 19 and was hampered by injuries in his first season. In last term’s second half under Pellegrino Matarazzo he performed as expected, and this summer has three goals in four pre-season friendlies.

Big outlays have not always paid off, as shown by Arsen Zakharyan at 13 million euros and Mohamed-Ali Cho at 11 million. Others offered strong value, including Take Kubo at 6.5 million, Carlos Soler at 6 million and Gonçalo Guedes at 4 million. Deals for Brais Méndez and Carlos Vela at 14 million, Mikel Merino at 12 million, Portu at 10 million and Alexander Isak, 6.5 million initially and almost 15 in total for full rights, proved worthwhile.

It remains to be seen how much Real Sociedad invest this season in a market of rising prices. The club plan at least two signings in this window, with further moves depending on departures.
