Xabi Alonso’s dismissal has caused an uproar in the world of football, with many figures within the footballing fraternity, including Thierry Henry, criticising Real Madrid’s decision.

It appears Alonso has become a cult hero of sorts, with many believing that he was wronged by the club. Nevertheless, less than a week after his departure, Alonso has already become a hot prospect in the managerial market.

Eintracht Frankfurt approach Alonso

According to SportBILD, Eintracht Frankfurt have already established first contacts with Xabi Alonso, just days after his Real Madrid dismissal.

It appears the Bundesliga outfit are keen on appointing Alonso as their next manager after parting ways with coach Dino Toppmoller.

Regarded as one of the top teams in the Bundesliga, Eintracht have endured a slow start to the season and are currently in seventh position in the league table.

This has led to the exit of Toppmoller, with Eintracht keen on replacing the former Bayern youth coach with Xabi Alonso.

The report adds that Eintracht’s sporting CEO, Markus Krosche, wants to meet Xabi Alonso, who is currently relaxing on vacation after being sacked by Real Madrid.

This is a clear sign of intent from the Eagles, who are eager to have Alonso return to the Bundesliga, having previously enjoyed immense success at Bayer Leverkusen.

As for Real Madrid, the immediate focus on Alonso’s future suggests the Spaniard remains one of the hottest prospects in the managerial market and it appears teams are more than willing to overlook his short-period at Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid themselves, of course, are finding potential managerial options for next season, with a recent report suggesting that top target Jurgen Klopp could be willing to leave Red Bull.
