Red Bull New York have acquired defender Devin Padelford on loan from Minnesota United FC through the 2026 MLS season, the clubs announced Thursday.

The 23-year-old American joined Minnesota in 2022 as a homegrown player. He's since tallied 2g/2a in 52 regular-season appearances with the Loons.

"Devin is a player who brings a combination of physicality, versatility, and a strong mentality to our group," said RBNY head of sport Julian de Guzman. "We are excited to add him to our roster and look forward to seeing him contribute to the team."

Last season, Padelford made 10 appearances while on loan with St. Louis CITY SC

In exchange for Padelford, Minnesota gained the Discovery Rights for Cherrion Valerius. They've since signed the defender on loan from Dutch side NAC Breda.

"Devin’s loan with Red Bull New York provides him with an excellent opportunity to continue his development and gain valuable playing time in a high-level environment. We wish Devin the best of luck during his time in New York," said Minnesota interim sporting director Hank Stebbins.
