Red wind alert halts grassroots sport across Castellón, RFEF fixtures in doubt | OneFootball

Aemet raised a red alert for Saturday in Castellón on Friday, disrupting carnivals and prompting widespread sporting cancellations to prevent incidents.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the Federació de Futbol de la Comunitat Valenciana has suspended all official fixtures scheduled for Saturday across its competitions in the Comunitat Valenciana, including national tournaments delegated to the FFCV such as Tercera División, Tercera División Futfem, Liga Nacional Juvenil and Tercera División de fútbol sala.

There will be no grassroots football and no senior categories overseen by the FFCV.

Matches that depend on the RFEF are in the balance. Villarreal B are due to host Eldense at the Ciudad Deportiva at 16.15 in the 24th round of Group II of Primera Federación, while in Segunda FFCV CD Castellón B are set to welcome Barcelona B at 16.00. Both are pending a decision by the Spanish federation, as is Villarreal Femenino’s meeting with Alavés in Primera Federación at 16.00.

Basketball has also been hit, with the Federación de Baloncesto de la Comunitat Valenciana suspending all games involving provincial teams. Fustecma Nou Bàsquet Femení have cancelled Saturday’s official presentation and will not play their Liga Challenge match against Lima Horta.

Handball follows suit, with all Castellón sides not playing. In Valencia, outdoor fixtures have been suspended.
