Régis Le Bris believes Sunderland can keep their core this summer, even if recent form attracts elite interest in England and Europe.

Brian Brobbey has been linked with a summer move, with The Independent reporting Bayern Munich are monitoring him. Sunderland accept occasional sales can help finances and appeal to young talent, yet Le Bris still expects stability next season.

He said the market is unpredictable and interest would reflect this season’s work. He added the club do not want wholesale change, that Kyril Louis-Dreyfus remains ambitious and does not plan to sell 50 per cent of the squad, and that decisions will be taken at the right time.

Qualification for Europe could bring both opportunity and a headache, since the calendar would likely demand a deeper squad. UEFA’s financial rules are stricter, limiting clubs to spending 70% of revenue on squad costs.

Le Bris said they are not yet planning actively for Europe, but the improved structure should allow decisive moves whatever the outcome. He noted Florent Ghisolfi has revamped scouting and recruitment and said the club will be ready for the window.

Ghisolfi has also said the team will be strengthened where possible and that some sales will occur as part of player cycles. He stressed Sunderland must show prospects they can step up in future, without pressure to sell.
