Sunderland face Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, with Régis Le Bris weighing significant selection calls as the injury list clears. According to Sunderland Echo, momentum has built through back-to-back wins and the return of key players.

Unai Emery’s side arrive buoyed by a midweek win over Bologna that sealed a Europa League semi-final place.

Goalkeeper Robin Roefs made a strong return to the XI last weekend and there appears little reason to change.

At right back, Nordi Mukiele came straight back in, his deflected strike and all-round display central to the victory. He now looks one of the first names on the teamsheet and has made the role his own.

Luke O'Nien’s form should keep him at centre-back even with Dan Ballard available again, removing the need to rush anything. Le Bris hinted in his pre-match briefing that he would keep faith with the club stalwart.

Alongside him, Omar Alderete has been excellent in recent weeks and remains integral with and without the ball.
