Régis Le Bris remains hopeful Wilson Isidor can still have a long-term future at Sunderland despite speculation over a summer exit.
According to Sunderland Echo, the head coach has held talks with the striker, who is unhappy with his minutes after Brian Brobbey cemented the starting role in the second half of the campaign.
Isidor’s form has lifted in recent weeks, capped by a sharp cameo at Everton where he scored in a 3-1 win. The bench made a telling contribution that day, underlining his qualities at an important moment.
Le Bris said it is too early to know what the summer window will bring, but Isidor is content at the club and remains in his long-term plans. He urged patience, noting momentum can shift and opportunities arrive across a season.
He added that players naturally want to play, which can prompt thoughts of leaving when minutes are scarce. With Brobbey in dominant form, Isidor has been asked to accept the current hierarchy, stay ready and wait for his chance.
Habib Diarra set up Isidor’s goal and, after a frustrating spell for the club’s record signing, Le Bris welcomed his impact. He reflected on a season shaped by AFCON and injury, limited rhythm and connection, and said they would see him next season. Sunderland host Chelsea on Sunday as they bid to secure European football.
