Sunderland head coach Régis Le Bris has been shortlisted for Premier League manager of the season after guiding the club to safety in their first top-flight campaign for eight years. He could yet deliver a top-half finish and there remains an outside chance of European qualification.
Sunderland have 48 points with two matches remaining, having passed the 40-point mark in March.
The Frenchman’s side had been widely tipped to go down, with the last six clubs promoted from the Championship failing to stay up.
There are six nominees in total. Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta and Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola are included as the title race remains unresolved, while Michael Carrick is recognised for taking Manchester United to third and Champions League qualification after a poor start under Ruben Amorim.
Le Bris also competes with Brentford’s Keith Andrews, whose team are eighth and in the hunt for Europe in his debut campaign. Andoni Iraola, set to leave Bournemouth when his contract ends this summer, is nominated with his side currently sixth and close to securing European football.
The winner will be chosen through a mix of public votes and an expert panel. Supporters have until midday Monday to cast their vote.
Le Bris has three Barclays Manager of the Month nominations this season, in August, September and March. He is also only the second Sunderland manager to win each of his first two league games against Newcastle United.
