Rio Branco do Espírito Santo have appointed Reinaldo as head coach for the 2027 season. The former Flamengo forward, 47, will lead the team in the Campeonato Estadual and the Copa Espírito Santo.

According to Coluna Do Fla, he arrives after an impressive spell with Maricá from 2023 to early 2026, helping the club reach Rio de Janeiro’s top flight. At one stage they led the Campeonato Carioca, and the outlet called this a good challenge in a different market, pointing to Maricá’s win over Botafogo in last year’s competition opener.

During his time at Maricá, Reinaldo won the Campeonato Carioca Série A2 and the Copa Rio. Victory in the Copa Rio earned the club a place in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série D.

He later took charge of Sampaio Corrêa for the Copa Rio. The team finished third, thereby ensuring participation in national competitions in 2027.

Before coaching, Reinaldo enjoyed a notable playing career. A Flamengo academy graduate, he was part of the squads that won the 1999 Copa Mercosul and a Carioca three-peat from 1999 to 2001. He moved to São Paulo in 2001 and won the Supercampeonato Paulista, lifted the French Cup with Paris Saint-Germain in 2003, the Paulista with Santos in 2006, and added titles in Saudi Arabia in 2007 and South Korea in 2010.
