Mirassol left-back Reinaldo condemned a Santos supporter who spat at him during the 1-1 draw at Vila Belmiro on Sunday, urging action.
The player said in a post that the act was disgusting, lamentable and shameful, and he called for measures to stop similar incidents. He wrote that, regardless of the result, nobody goes to work to represent a team and end up being spat in the face. He noted the away point but placed it behind the seriousness of what happened.
The incident occurred 24 minutes into the first half, when Reinaldo approached the glass barrier separating the pitch from the stands to take a throw-in. He protested immediately to the match officials.
Santos players, including Neymar, and referee Edina Alves Batista then spoke with Reinaldo before he resumed play.
Spitting allegations involving spectators at Vila Belmiro are not unprecedented, with similar episodes previously reported by coach Tite and referee Bráulio da Silva Machado.
