Rémi Himbert has sustained a severe ankle sprain in Vigo and will be sidelined for six to eight weeks, Paulo Fonseca said. According to Le Progres, the young Lyon forward was hurt on Thursday, with Olympique Lyonnais due at Le Havre on Sunday at 17:15.

Fonseca said the player is disappointed and has been told to concentrate on his recovery. The setback leaves his season in serious doubt.

Counting Clinton Mata’s suspension in Normandy, Lyon will be without nine players at Le Havre. The absentees are Mata, Himbert, Ernest Nuamah, Ruben Kluivert, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Pavel Sulc, Noham Kamara, Afonso Moreira and Malick Fofana.

There was a small boost as Moreira and Fofana joined the team warm-up on Saturday morning. Fonseca added that he hopes to have Pavel Sulc and Afonso Moreira for Vigo on Thursday, and perhaps Malick Fofana.

With that in mind, he hinted he would lean on experienced players with influence at Le Havre. For now, it is about hanging in.
