Renato has expanded his assessment of Grêmio’s academy, inviting 12 youngsters to train with the senior squad during the Fifa international window.
According to Globo.com, this does not amount to immediate promotion, with the coach leaning on experience while the club fight relegation in the Brasileirão.
The move aims to widen future options and allow closer evaluation of prospects who could be used. It comes in addition to those who have already appeared at senior level in 2026.
Called up were João Victor, 18, goalkeeper, plus defenders Bernardo Ferreira, 18, Richard, 17, Vitor Ramon, 18, and Emanuel, 17.
The midfield group features João Novaes, 18, Iago Valeije, 17, João Borne, 18, and Adrielson, 18, with forwards Fellipe Magalhães, 19, Arnaldo, 19, and Lucca, 18, also included.
Further academy players already around the first team remain on the radar, namely midfielders Riquelme, Roger and Jefinho, holding midfielder Zortéa, and centre-back Luís Eduardo.
Midfielder Tiaguinho, out since May, has been in training and could return as an option. He has nine appearances this season, last featuring against City Torque in the Sudamericana.
