Rennes must sell before making move for Lens’ Jonathan Gradit

It looks all set to be a busy transfer window at Stade Rennais. The Breton club, despite significant investment once again in the summer, have fallen dramatically short of expectations in the first half of the season. Having sacked Julien Stephan and brought in Jorge Sampaoli, Rennes sit 12th in the league and just four points above the relegation zone.

As a result, Les Rennais are looking to strengthen. As reported by L’Équipe, the club are making significant advancements in deals to sign former RC Lens midfielder Seko Fofanand current Lens goalkeeper Brice Samba. The former currently plies his trade at Al-Nassr and a €20m agreement is nearing, whilst an agreement in principle has been reached with Les Sang et Or to sign the latter.

However, another Lens player is being targeted: Jonathan Gradit (32). Foot Mercato understands that Rennes have a strong interest in Gradit and have had for several weeks, however, the Breton club must first sell before they can buy. One or two departures are expected, as per Foot Mercato, including Christopher Wooh.

Gradit himself is considering his future at Lens having featured less prominently in recent times, starting the club’s last three encounters from the bench.
