On the market for a new centre back, Stade Rennais are targeting Flamengo’s Fabricio Bruno (28). The Brazil international recently refused to join West Ham United.

After having lost multiple key players this summer so far, such as Martin Terrier (27), Enzo Le Fée (24) and Jeanuel Belocian (19), Rennes is now looking to strengthen their squad in their aim to compete for a European spot this season. The Brittany side has made the signature of a centre back one of their top priorities and was close to sealing Martin Pongracic’s deal before Fiorentina hijacked the deal. Recently, Gianluca Di Marzio revealed that Les Rouges et Noirs were close to finding a total agreement with Napoli for Norway international Léo Østigård. However, in order to cover another collapse, Rennes are reportedly targeting multiple players, one of them being Flamengo’s centre back Fabricio Bruno.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Rennes have opened talks with the Brazilian champions to sign Bruno, who has been a regular starter for the Rio de Janeiro’s outfit this season so far. At 28 years old, the Brazilian international could live his first experience abroad. It remains to be seen if Bruno will be interested in Rennes’ project only a few months after having refused a proposal from West Ham.
