Rennes are showing an interest in the signing of Toulouse right-back Mikkel Desler (28), according to a report this Thursday from L’Équipe.
The 28-year-old has been the starting right-back at Toulouse since his arrival from Haugesund two years ago. Desler was therefore part of the squad that achieved a Ligue 1 promotion in 2022 as well as a Coupe de France title last Spring. Desler is entering his final contract year with the Garonne side. The French publication understands that talks of a renewal have not been opened for the time being.
Rennes, who are in the market for an experienced right-back following the departure of club captain Hamari Traoré to Real Sociedad, have identified Desler as his replacement. However, the Bretons have not submitted an offer yet. The French publication understands that Toulouse would only entertain bids in excess of €2.5m. A valuation that has reportedly cooled the interest of several clubs, L’Équipe adds. Although Rennes and Toulouse have both qualified for the Europa League group stage, a move to Brittany can be considered a step up for Desler.
Les Rouge et Noir have flexed their financial muscles so far this summer. They have splashed a combined €40m for the signings of Enzo Le Fée and Ludovic Blas. They also poached reliable goalkeeper Gauthier Gallon.
