To kick off the 22nd matchday of Ligue 1, Paris Saint-Germain traveled to face Stade Rennais (3-1 video highlights here). The only goal scorer for Paris, Ousmane Dembélé, the 28-year-old forward, reflected on this setback in an interview with PSG TV.

Dembélé: “Rennes deserves their victory”

“First, we have to put the team first, we also missed a lot of chances. We could have come back on the scoreboard, but I also think Rennes deserves their victory. Yes, we’re heading to Monaco for the playoffs. We know it won’t be easy. We lost there, so we’ll do everything we can to win.”

A defeat that stings for PSG, who were euphoric and confident after last Sunday’s 5-0 win over Olympique de Marseille. Now, they will have to focus in order to best prepare for this first match against AS Monaco on Tuesday. The Champions League remains PSG’s main objective as defending champions, and of course, that starts with a win in the playoffs. This Parisian team has shown many weaknesses, but also many strengths this season. They will need to be at 100% to tip the balance in their favor and continue their European journey.
