According to Tuesday’s reports, there are growing concerns in Argentina regarding Nico Paz’s condition, and updates in Italy claim that the national team are putting pressure on Como to not field him in their crucial final Serie A match of the season this weekend.
Nico Paz was not called up to the matchday squad for Como’s 1-0 victory against Parma in Serie A on Sunday. The Argentina international had appeared in every league match he had been available for prior to the weekend, only missing one game through a yellow card suspension.
Speaking before the match against Parma, Fabregas confirmed that Paz would not be available due to a knock to his knee, and admitted that the attacking midfielder may have to miss the final two matches of the Serie A season.
“Nico Paz is injured, he will not be there tomorrow with Parma. He had a knock to the knee. If it had been played on Monday, we might be in a different situation, but in all honesty I can’t say if he’ll play the last game either. I hope so, but I couldn’t tell you for sure.”
Como have one Serie A match of the season left to play, away against Cremonese at 19.45 BST on Sunday, in a game that will decide whether they will be playing in the Champions League or Europa League next season.

Como currently find themselves in fifth place in the Serie A table, two points behind Roma in fourth heading into the final round of 2025-26 fixtures. The situation requires Roma dropping points against Fiorentina in order for Como to qualify for the Champions League.
Naturally, Fabregas and Como will want their star player available, but according to reports from Calciomercato.com, the Argentina national team are ‘putting pressure’ on Como to leave the 21-year-old out of the side this weekend.
That is because Paz is a strong candidate to make Lionel Scaloni’s final 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup in North America, which kicks off in just a few weeks’ time.

According to reports from ESPN in Argentina, the Argentina national team will send doctors over to Italy to assess Paz’s injury and condition. They feel that his injury is not particularly serious, but that there is a risk that the situation worsened if the youngster were to suffer another knock against Cremonese this weekend.
