La Liga pacesetters Barcelona have reportedly set their sights on Inter Milan defensive stalwart Alessandro Bastoni.

According to Spanish outlet Sport via FCInterNews, Los Blaugranas need a miracle to sign the Italian in January.

Despite his rollercoaster campaign, Alessandro Bastoni remains one of Europe’s most sought-after defenders.

Indeed, the 26-year-old has long been on Pep Guardiola’s shortlist, yet Manchester City have never opened talks with Inter.

In addition to the Cityzens, several other Premier League clubs have registered interest in the Italy international.

Bastoni’s contract at San Siro runs out in 2028.

Therefore, Inter remain in a decent bargaining position, especially considering the player’s desire to stay in Milan.

With that in mind, Barcelona would have to splash out a small fortune to acquire the center-back’s signature.

However, the Catalan giants’ financial turmoil is well-documented.

Furthermore, Inter would never agree to sell their defensive mainstay midway through the campaign.

While the situation could change at the end of the season, Bastoni’s move to Camp Nou in January looks far-fetched.
