Report – Besiktas Set Sights on Injury-Prone Juventus Defender | OneFootball

Juventus defender Juan Cabal is likely to leave the club this summer after another injury-hit season. According to Sky Sport via Calciomercato, Turkish giants Besiktas have set their sights on the Colombian star.

Cabal joined Juventus from Hellas Verona in the summer of 2024 for a reported fee of €11 million. However, recurring fitness problems have limited him to just 28 competitive appearances over the last two seasons. Last season, he appeared in just 12 Serie A matches.

As such, Luciano Spalletti has sidelined him from his long-term project.

Meanwhile, Cabal’s contract at the Allianz Stadium runs until 2029. Juventus are open to selling their injury-prone defender, but they’ll be looking to recoup their investment. Despite the player’s constant absence, Besiktas, now coached by Vincenzo Italiano, could offer him an escape route from Turin.

Win-win deal for Juventus & Cabal

Deemed surplus to requirements by Spalletti, Cabal has no future at Juventus. Yet, at just 25, there is plenty of time for him to get his career back on track. A move to Besiktas would offer the Colombian the regular first-team football he has desperately lacked in Turin.

On the other hand, Juventus would free up wages and recover part of the €11 million they invested two years ago. With the Bianconeri preparing to overhaul their squad after missing out on Champions League qualification, Cabal’s sale could help them raise funds for new signings.

Several Italian clubs had previously shown interest in Cabal, but he could leave Serie A altogether.
