Barcelona star Gavi suffered a devastating blow this week as the club confirmed he would be ruled out for four to five months.

This comes on the back of a surgery on his right knee that revealed far more serious damage than was anticipated. Gavi himself thought he would be out for a period of only four to five weeks.

Now SPORT reports that Gavi has been deeply affected by the news of his absence for a period of four to five months.

As mentioned earlier, the midfielder thought he would be out for only a month or so. But once Dr Monllau began the procedure, he discovered that the knee was in worse condition than anticipated.

It wasn’t the easiest for the Barcelona team doctors to inform Gavi about this development. As per the report, his family, close circle, and club staff waited until he had fully regained consciousness before telling him the truth.

What followed was an emotional collapse. Gavi, who had already endured a gruelling recovery in the past, instantly understood the magnitude of the injury. He was deeply affected by the news.

Alejandro Echevarria, close to the club and to Gavi, remained by his side late into the night at the Barcelona hospital, helping him through the difficult first hours.

Head coach Hansi Flick also visited after learning about the seriousness of the injury, showcasing solidarity with the young midfielder.

Despite the support, the midfielder was visibly shaken as he left the hospital for home.

This latest blow will once again significantly stifle the progress of the youngster, who has already suffered a lot in the recent past while putting Barcelona under pressure once again, as far as squad depth is concerned.
