Denzel Dumfries has been on the sidelines since suffering an ankle injury against Lazio in early November.

Indeed, the Dutchman has missed Inter’s last five matches in all competitions, including a 1-0 home loss to Liverpool on Tuesday.

Furthermore, Sunday’s away Serie A game against Genoa will likely come too soon for the 29-year-old.

Dumfries could be at Chivu’s disposal for the heavily anticipated semi-final tie against Bologna.

Inter will take on the reigning Coppa Italia holders next week, with Chivu hopeful of welcoming the Dutch wingback back to the squad.

Meanwhile, Matteo Darmian may also make his long-awaited return from injury.

The veteran defender picked up a long-term calf problem during Inter’s Champions League win over Slavia Prague in September.
