Inter Milan have reportedly intensified their long-standing interest in Lazio center-back Mario Gila.

According to Alfredo Pedulla via FCInter1908, the San Siro giants have recently inquired about the Spanish defender.

Inter’s interest in Mario Gila is no secret, but the Nerazzurri have not made any concrete steps to secure his signature.

Meanwhile, Lazio have yet to open talks over the 25-year-old’s contract extension, throwing his future at the Olimpico into doubt.

Gila’s contract in Rome expires in June 2027, meaning Lazio will be under pressure to address his future next summer.

Indeed, it could be their last chance to cash in on the former Espanyol star unless they renew his contract over the next few months.

However, Gila’s agent, Alejandaro Camano, has been cryptic about his client’s future, refusing to unveil the player’s plans.

It’s also worth noting that Real Madrid boast a 50% sell-on clause, meaning they could buy back Gila on a cut-price deal.

Furthermore, Inter might face competition from AC Milan, whose sporting director, Igli Tare, brought Gila to Italy four years ago.
