Inter Milan assistant sporting director Dario Baccin has added River Plate whizz-kid Franco Mastantuono to his shortlist.
According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, the 17-year-old teenager has caught Baccin’s eye.
Dario Baccin left Europe to scour the South American market earlier this week.
His trip over the Atlantic Ocean is part of Oaktree’s plan to strengthen the Nerazzurri squad with young talents from abroad.
Mastantuono has been among the most attractive profiles to land on Baccin’s radar during his early days in Latin America.
However, the prodigious attacking midfielder won’t come cheap.
Indeed, the Nerazzurri may have to allocate up to a whopping €41 million to get River Plate’s go-ahead.
Aware of Mastantuono’s burgeoning talent, the Argentine giants have included a substantial release clause in his contract.
Moreover, the youngster’s deal at the Monumental runs out in 2026.
That doesn’t give River Plate much wriggle room.
On the contrary, they can either sell their sought-after prospect next summer or run the risk of losing him on a free transfer.
They can also try to extend Mastantuono’s contract in the coming months.
However, with lucrative proposals coming from Europe, that looks far-fetched.
