Liverpool are continuing their efforts to strengthen their academy ranks, with highly rated youngster Xavier Parker now reportedly in talks over a move from Man City.
The 16-year-old midfielder is regarded as one of the brightest talents in his age group and developments over the past week suggest Liverpool are pushing hard to secure his signature before the end of the month.
Xavier Parker’s journey through elite youth football has been rapid. After emerging as a standout prospect at West Ham United, he attracted attention from several leading clubs before Man City moved quickly to bring him into their academy setup in 2024.
Since arriving in Manchester, Parker has continued to progress through the ranks. He has featured in the Under 18 Premier League, FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League, earning opportunities above his age group.

His development has not gone unnoticed.
One notable moment came in March when Parker scored against Liverpool’s Under 18 side in a convincing 3-0 victory. He also played a role in Man City’s recent FA Youth Cup triumph, appearing in the 2-1 final victory over Manchester United.
Reports earlier this week indicated Liverpool’s strong interest in the midfielder, with the situation now appearing to have advanced significantly.
According to The Secret Scout, discussions between the player’s representatives and Liverpool are already taking place.
The report stated: “Liverpool and Xavier Parker representatives have begun contract negotiations. Both parties want the move. Parker is a Liverpool fan. Expected to leave Man City at the end of this month when his contract ends and join Liverpool. Ongoing interest from other clubs, Manchester City have already targeted top talent replacements.”
Should an agreement be reached, it would represent another significant academy acquisition for Liverpool as they continue to identify elite young talent from across the country.
Liverpool’s recruitment strategy has increasingly focused on securing promising players before they establish themselves at senior level.
The recent addition of Wolves Under 14 goalkeeper Zach Trinder highlighted that approach, and a move for Xavier Parker would further underline the club’s commitment to building for the future.
While talks remain ongoing, Liverpool appear well positioned in the race for one of English football’s most promising young midfielders. If negotiations progress smoothly, Parker could soon swap Man City for Liverpool in what would be one of the most eye catching academy moves of the summer.
