If the figures are genuinely around €40m to €45m, that feels far more sensible than being dragged towards €60m or more for Hall, especially if Newcastle are reluctant sellers from the outset.

There is always some caution when a big club appears willing to let a talented young player go. Supporters will naturally ask why Barcelona are open to it. But context matters late in a transfer window, and opportunities often emerge because one club needs flexibility more than another.

If United can secure Balde on a structure that protects them financially, whether through favourable instalments or an initial loan with options attached, it would look like smart business.
