Mauricio Pochettino is fast becoming the favourite as new Milan coach ahead of Oliver Glasner, as former Liverpool boss Arne Slot is ruled out.
The Rossoneri are still in limbo after sacking coach Max Allegri, director of sport Igli Tare, CEO Giorgio Furlani and technical director Geoffrey Moncada in one statement.
It had for a while been a two-horse race between ex-Crystal Palace tactician Glasner and former Liverpool man Slot.
However, over the last few hours it has become evident that Slot is no longer on the list, replaced instead by current USMNT head coach Pochettino.

While the club had a good meeting with Glasner this week that reportedly went on for six hours, it was not quite enough to convince owner Gerry Cardinale and special advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
MilanNews now report that Pochettino is climbing up the standings to become the favourite, even though he is preparing for the World Cup as one of the co-host nations with Canada and Mexico.

A decision could only be made next week, further delaying the preparations for a new season that is entirely up in the air.
The Gazzetta dello Sport had reported that Pochettino’s entourage already agreed a contract worth €5m per season, so now it’s about deciding which project the owners want to go forward with.
So much also depends on who will be the technical director, as Ralf Rangnick has not yet been formally appointed, seeing as he too is preparing for the World Cup with Austria.
