Report – PSG Set to Beat Juventus in Race to Sign Parma Star | OneFootball

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly accelerated their pursuit of Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki amid Juventus’ interest. According to Fabrizio Romano, Les Parisiens have ‘presented their project’ to the Japanese star after identifying him as a priority target.

Lucas Chevalier has fallen short of expectations at the Parc des Princes despite his phenomenal stint at Lille. The Frenchman’s arrival set PSG back around €40 million last summer, but he lost his place in the starting lineup over the course of the 2025/26 season.

Indeed, Matvey Safonov has leapfrogged the 24-year-old in the pecking order, becoming Gianluigi Donnarumma’s heir. However, the back-to-back Champions League winners are keen to add more quality between the sticks, with Suzuki emerging as an ideal solution.

Moreover, the French heavyweights have overtaken Juventus in the race for the Parma star. They’ve opened talks with the player’s camp after the Crusaders turned down Juventus’ opening bid and are looking to close the deal swiftly.

Suzuki has been brilliant for Parma in the last two years, helping the club avoid Serie A relegation in consecutive seasons while establishing himself as one of the division’s standout goalkeepers. Furthermore, he starred for Japan at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with his market value skyrocketing after a superb tournament.

Juventus had hoped to sign the former Urawa Reds ace as a long-term replacement for Michele Di Gregorio, but PSG look set to win the race. In addition to doing everything to persuade the player to move to Ligue 1, Luis Enrique’s men appear willing to outmuscle Juventus financially.

Even from a marketing standpoint, signing one of Asia’s emerging football stars would be a major coup for Les Parisiens, especially after offloading Lee Kang-in to Atletico Madrid.
