According to transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano, Roma have agreed a deal with Lyon and personal terms with Malick Fofana, but will only proceed after FC Porto’s response on Rodrigo Mora.

The Giallorossi are finally surging forward on the market after a slow summer where they were frustrated for so many targets.

There were already multiple reports today that they were in pole position for Lyon winger Fofana, ahead of Galatasaray in the running.

Now Romano maintains on his Italian language YouTube channel that Roma managed to agree personal terms with the player, and he is enthusiastic about the idea.

He also insists they know the demands put forward by Olympique Lyonnais, and are prepared to pay those figures, believed to be in the region of €40m.

However, as the budget is limited, they will only proceed after finding out whether or not FC Porto will release Mora.

The two clubs seem close to a deal for €25m plus 50 per cent of the future sale, with an agreement in place to purchase the other half of his contract in 2027 for another €25m.

It remains to be seen if Gian Piero Gasperini will be able to get both, especially if there are no significant sales.
