Report – Roma Submit Formal Offer for Chelsea Winger | OneFootball

Roma have reportedly made a formal approach for Chelsea winger Jamie Gittens, who endured a difficult first season at Stamford Bridge. According to Alfredo Pedulla, the Giallorossi are looking to sign the English forward on loan with an option to buy.

Gittens joined Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund for a whopping £48.5 million last summer after an impressive breakout season at Signal Iduna Park. However, he faltered in his maiden Premier League campaign, failing to find the net in 16 league appearances for the club.

In his defense, Gittens made just five top-flight starts in 2025/26, adding three more in the UEFA Champions League. Former manager Liam Rosenior didn’t have much trust in the former Reading starlet, and it’s uncertain whether his situation will change under Xabi Alonso.

Still, it’s worth noting that his contract in West London doesn’t run out until 2032.

Despite completing the signing of Rodrigo Mora from Porto, Gian Piero Gasperini remains in the market for another winger. That’s probably because Matias Soule could still leave Roma, with Milan reportedly vying for the Argentine’s signature to complete their new-look frontline.

After seeing their pursuit of Diego Moreira fall short, Roma had tried to land Gabriel Martinelli, only for Arsenal’s asking price to blow them out of the water. Chelsea won’t let Gittens leave for pennies, but they might be open to letting their unsettled star move on loan to gain more minutes.

Gittens was a beast in his final season at Dortmund, and a move to Roma could give him the platform to rediscover that form while offering Gasperini another explosive option on the wing.
