From an Arsenal supporter’s perspective, this is one of those stories that feels logical, but still a little sad. Reiss Nelson has always been a player fans wanted to see truly break through. There has been patience, goodwill and genuine affection for him because he is one of our own and because, in flashes, he has shown real quality.

If he is “not in Mikel Arteta’s plans for the upcoming season”, then the club have to be decisive. There is no value in carrying players without a clear pathway, especially when the squad needs to be trimmed intelligently. A permanent move would probably be best for everyone. Arsenal get a clean resolution, Nelson gets clarity, and there is still time for him to build an important chapter elsewhere.

The West Ham angle is interesting. A promotion push in the Championship would put pressure on him, but it would also give him responsibility and regular football, which may be exactly what he needs at this stage of his career. Benfica sounds attractive too, particularly with Marco Silva there, and many Arsenal fans may feel that route suits his profile better.
