The 2025 Ballon d’Or gala will take place tomorrow at the Théâtre du Châtelet on Monday, where the best footballer for the year will be crowned.

FC Barcelona will have a huge representation at the ceremony, with several players from both men’s and women’s teams nominated for the top honour.

As reported earlier today, from the men’s team, Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi, and Raphinha will be travelling, along with manager Hansi Flick.

However, Pedri and Robert Lewandowski, both of whom are also nominated for the Ballon d’Or, will not be attending the gala.

Why will Pedri not attend?

According to AS, Pedri opted not to travel to Paris for the Ballon d’Or ceremony as he is prioritising resting his body ahead of a busy fixture schedule.

The 22-year-old midfielder is expected to finish in a very high position in the Ballon d’Or rankings, but will not attend so that he can recuperate and prepare himself for Barça’s next matches.

After all, the Blaugrana play Getafe on Sunday night and are then scheduled to take on Real Sociedad on Thursday before taking on Real Sociedad next Sunday.

Three days later, the Catalans will face off against PSG in their first home game of the UEFA Champions League this season.

Given that Barça will be playing four crucial games in a little over a week, Pedri is keen on getting rest in between rather than adding another trip to Paris and back for the Ballon d’Or gala.

So far this season, Pedri has started each of Barcelona’s five games in all competitions and has played the entire 90 minutes in four of those. So, any break for him to get some rest will be welcome, given the long and arduous season.
