Manchester City are reportedly willing to sign off on a loan exit for their Academy’s leading striker talent, according to new information.
The Premier League giants have spent some time evaluating several young attacking prospects, with the likes of Jaden Heskey, Divine Mukasa, and Claudio Echeverri all discussed as part of the club’s broader development strategy.
As Manchester City continue to reshape their pathway between the Elite Development Squad and senior football, the next emerging talent preparing for a move abroad appears to be another headline-grabbing goalscorer.
Recent months have seen Manchester City prioritise giving their brightest teenagers exposure – whether through pre-season involvement, Carabao Cup minutes, or strategic loan plans. That approach has come alongside growing external interest from Europe’s top divisions, particularly in attackers capable of making the leap into Pep Guardiola’s system.
Mahamadou Sangare’s numbers so far this season underline why, with the 18-year-old having produced nine goals and two assists across Premier League 2, the UEFA Youth League, and the EFL Trophy – a return placing him among the most productive forwards in the academy setup.
Now, according to the information of Sky’s Sacha Tavolieri, after discussions with the player’s representatives, Manchester City have now opened the door to a loan move for 18-year-old striker Mahamadou Sangare as early as the upcoming January transfer window.
With the player said to be ‘highly ambitious’, it is explained that the teenager wants to play with Pep Guardiola’s senior first-team squad ‘as soon as possible’ to continue his development, and gain first-team playing time.
In terms of potential suitors, the report also highlights that Sangare’s performances have caught the eye of scouts in both Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga, while Belgian giants RSC Anderlecht are also said to be keeping a close eye on the forward.
A temporary switch would form part of Manchester City’s increasingly consistent approach with their leading prospects, mirroring decisions around players such as Vitor Reis and Claudio Echeverri – both lined up for competitive European football.
Should Sangare secure a move, the destination will be key. Ligue 1 offers reputation for developing raw talent, while the Bundesliga has long been a proving ground for young forwards capable of playing high-intensity football. RSC Anderlecht, meanwhile, continue to maintain strong relationships with Premier League clubs and may offer guaranteed minutes.
Manchester City’s intention will be to find a club that replicates first-team demands while refining Mahamadou Sangare’s already impressive output. If the teenager continues on his current trajectory, he could return to the Etihad Stadium next summer as another forward pushing for Pep Guardiola’s attention, or moving into the wider CFG network for progression.
