Throughout his career, Jürgen Klopp has consistently been linked with the job as Germany coach.

Speculation has persisted since his appointment as Red Bull’s Head of Global Soccer in January 2025, even though the 58-year-old is under contract until 2029 and has repeatedly stated that he is happy in his current role.

For Marco Reus, who played under Klopp at Borussia Dortmund, there is no doubt that the former BVB coach will one day take charge of the German national team.

“First of all: we have an excellent coach in Julian Nagelsmann in this position,” Reus told Sports Illustrated Deutschland.

“Nevertheless, I believe that ‘Kloppo’, with his style and his abilities, would be an excellent German national team coach. And I am convinced that he will become one someday.”

In an interview with Bulinews.com back in January, Klopp didn't completely rule out a return to coaching.

“I don’t know what I will think in five years when I’m 63. I still won’t be too old for the job. I don’t know what I will think in two or three years either. I don’t expect to change my mind, but I don’t know. Do I want to coach again? At the moment, I would say no, but I can’t say ‘never, never, never’. At the moment, I’m very happy with what I’m doing. It’s a bit like all the things I did in the past led me to be really suited for this job,” Klopp said, adding:

“I don’t need to be in the centre. I don’t need to be on the pitch if we win something, being the one in the middle. It was nice, but I’ve had enough of it. I’m not here to go again, go again, go again. If I feel it, I go again.”
